A dump truck, also known as a dumper truck or tipper truck, is used for transporting finer material such as sand, gravel, or demolition waste for construction. It is typically equipped with an open-box bed, which is hinged at the rear and equipped with hydraulic rams to lift the front, allowing the material in the bed to be deposited (“dumped”) on the ground behind the truck at the site of delivery. There are several types of dump trucks, including standard dump trucks, transfer trucks, end dump trucks, side dump trucks, tri-axle dump trucks, superdump trucks, bottom dump trucks, and double bottom trucks.
